Juxtaposition.

Albert Einstein. 

Simply stated, juxtaposition means placing things side-by-side. In art this usually is done with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used. The viewer's attention is drawn to the similarities or differences between the elements.

Derives from French word "juxtaposition", from Latin iuxtā (“near”) or from Latin iungō (“to join”) + French position (“position”) from Latin pōnō (“to place”).

Mortar & Pestle.

So Mr. Razi gave us an exercise in class about Mortar & Pestle. Basically there was this mind map displayed at the screen and we had to choose 3 words from it and apply them to the Mortar & Pestle. However.. un-logical it may be applied we had to sketch it out and explain (because.. yeah.. just behold! thy drawings!)

Fashion: The pretty little lady wears the Mortar as a head gear (clearly withstanding the heaviness with a smile) and wearing the pestle as a pair of earrings. So fierce, gurl.

Torture: As you can see the victim is held captive hands and feet strapped onto the table, defenseless. Whilst the crazy dude uses the pestle to aim parts of the victim's limbs and threatens to beat the life out of him with the mortar. Kind of like a hammer and a nail. Hmm, crazy little dude.

Death: Suicide! this method might need help from another willing human being. First, you tie up the pestle with rope and don't forget to tie up your own neck real good too. Second, place the rope over a fan or anything much taller than you. Okay next, you stand on top of the mortar and when you're ready, jump! instant choking death.

Mind Mapping!

According to Wikipedia, mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid to studying and organizing information, solving problems, making decisions, and writing.

Mind maps are, by definition, a graphical method of taking notes. Their visual basis helps one to distinguish words or ideas, often with colors and symbols. They generally take a hierarchical or tree branch format, with ideas branching into their subsections. Mind maps allow for greater creativity when recording ideas and information, as well as allowing the note-taker to associate words with visual representations. Mind maps differ from concept maps in that mind maps focus on only one word or idea, whereas concept maps connect multiple words or ideas. A mind map is often created around a single word or text, placed in the center, to which associated ideas, words and concepts are added. 

Mind maps to me, as a student is most effective as note taking as well learning. Mainly because its structure that is filled with images and colors helps me to recall and remember certain things even more vividly. It's fun to look at too. It can also be use to express a person's personality during a presentation with a mind map. Basically it's useful and even more practical the normal lines and paragraphs notes.

Over the course of the past decade, Google has become quite well known for its corporate culture and innovative, clean products, and has had a major impact on online culture. In July 2006, the verb, "to google", was officially added to both the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary as well as the Oxford English Dictionary, meaning, "to use the Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet.".

Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution.

The name Microsoft (a portmanteau of microcomputer and software), hyphenated in its early incarnations, was first used in a letter from Gates to Allen on November 29, 1975,and on November 26, 1976 the company was registered under that name with the Secretary of State of New Mexico. The company's first international office was founded on November 1, 1978, in Japan, entitled "ASCII Microsoft" (now called "Microsoft Japan"), and on November 29, 1979, the term, "Microsoft" was first used by Bill Gates. On January 1, 1979, the company moved from Albuquerque to a new home in Bellevue, Washington. Novelty, Innovation, Creativity & Invention.

Novelty
The quality of being new. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension.e.g. a new style of art coming into being, such as abstract art or impressionism it essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals.


Creativity
Refers to the phenomenon whereby something new is created which has some kind of value. What counts as "new" may be in reference to the individual creator, or to the society or domain within which the novelty occurs. What counts as "valuable" is similarly defined in a variety of ways. The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns,relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas.


Innovation
Derives from the Latin word "innovātus" which means to renew. Innovation can therefore be seen as the process that renews something that exists and not - as is commonly assumed - the introduction of something new.


Invention
A new composition, device, or process. An invention may be deriv from a pre-existing model or idea, or it could be independently conceived in which case it may be a radical breakthrough. In addition, there is cultural invention, which is an innovative set of useful social behaviors adopted by people and passed on to others. Inventions often extend the boundaries of human knowledge or experience. An invention that is novel and not obvious to others skilled in the same field may be able to obtain the legal protection of a patent.

Creativity?

Linda Naim, the founder of creativityatwork.com defines creativity as "The act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality."

Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing. Innovation is the production or implementation of an idea. If you have ideas, but don't act on them, you are imaginative but not creative.

In my opinion creativity is not only thinking nor is it thinking outside the box but is pushing the boundaries or going against the norm and having the passion to translate the idea produced into any type of media within the lines of art.  Or In other words, have a versatile or flexible mind to create something that has never been done before.

The generic assumption at the mention of creativity is usually things on paper such as drawings and paintings. But in real fact Creativity is applied into so many different fields. Its needed by architects for modern buildings or could be for a sculpture. Or to create music.

Even in the Fashion industry or interior designing. Evidently they all require creativity.

The product of "creativity" has typically been defined in one of two ways: either as something historically new (and relatively rare), such as scientific discoveries or great works of art; or as producing something new in a personal sense - an apparent innovation for the creator, regardless of whether others have made similar innovations, or whether others value the particular act of creation.

In conclusion, any matter that requires the action to create needs creativity.
