Design Concept: The Role of Creative Multimedia to Producing A Unique Student

Essay on "The Role of Creative Multimedia to Producing A Unique Student"

Creative multimedia allows experimentation with many art forms. It is a combination of art and technology at its best. While some subjects focus on basic guidelines of art, such as shape, lines and colours. Other subjects focus on the more technological aspect such as graphic design, digital art, photography and technical editing. The vast varieties of knowledge offered is aimed at forming a well-rounded and educated art and design student. By combining these two elements, the student would know his (or her) way around both a hands-on platform as well as the technical platform. In addition to that, when learning basic art forms in, for example, life drawing or visual communication class, the student would be instilled with knowledge about line studies, where they understand the application of lines and perspective in everyday life. As for shape studies, students are taught to view the world and what shape it takes and its symbolism. Studies on colours, and introductions to warm and cool colours, demonstrate how colours can provoke or change moods within humans with the different use of hues, tones and shades. The multimedia potion of creative multimedia nurtures design aspects in the form of digital software and applications. This is where the student applies the initial design knowledge into digital form. On a base note, the traits birth a new breed if design students, well learned and creative on their own.

Technology is also considered as one of the uniqueness of Creative Multimedia as multimedia is widely related with technology. Multimedia is media and content that uses a combination of different content forms. Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video and interactivity and we can find all that using technology. The internet, we can use the internet to browse anything that we want to know about and there the answer will pop out. Editing is another source of technology, we need technology to edit our artworks. There are a lot of editing software such as Adobe Premier, Illustrator, Maya, Photoshop and so on. Besides editing, there is also sound in Creative Multimedia and also technology. Sounds from a movie or a film, a video clip, digital artwork. There is also various type of sound files such as Wav, Mp3 and many more. Next is images, images plays a big role in Creative Multimedia, as photography is under Creative Multimedia. Images can tells a story, or a mood or an expression. But by wanting people to understand the moral of the picture, or an artwork, we need technology. And by having technology, digital artwork is created. There is also video. Video is the technology of electronically capturing, recording, processing, storing, transmitting, and reconstructing a sequence of still images representing scenes in motion. Video has many formats such as digital video formats, Blu-Ray Disc, DVD, Quicktime, MPEG-4 and analog videotapes. Therefore, we really need to use the usage of technology as there is so many things we can achieve with it. Our society can become better and more creative by using blogs as their workspace.

Creative Multimedia also contributes in bringing an atypical sense to an individual. It affects an individual in a way that is both physically and mentally and brings a difference. Creative Multimedia enhances character building by establishing an identity in a student where the student is not generic. This factor leads to the student having a personal style mostly in the way they present their outer appearance, such styles include authentic and weird which applies to those who value originality. Other styles are trashy, which is defined by having a messy bed head of a hair and wearing ripped items of clothing paired with hideously heavy dark hued eye shadows with intense red lipstick. Basically trashy style embodies a mixture of goth and a streetwalker.  Quite eccentric but still, creative. The style smart or better known as preppy is more popular among the wealthy individuals who prefer a more country club style such as polo shirts, plaid pants that have a clean cut and leather loafers to complete the look.  Last but not least is the eclectic style which is most expressive and emphasizes on mood change of the individual. This shows that Creative Multimedia effects the physical individual style of a student.

There are many benefits of taking Creative Multimedia and one of them would include the fun activities we exercise to get the skills needed to produce well-made assignments in the future. Another reason would be that students have the freedom to create anything from scratch. Creative Multimedia students also get to express their emotions such as sadness and happiness through sculpture, paintings and drawings. Students have a colossal range of production activities that help them venture through their minds to find their creative side. Other courses might become boring after a long period but Creative Multimedia creates a long and entertaining journey for everyone taking it so that they will not feel dull or blank after a while. Creative Multimedia also encourages to think outside of the box by teaching students how to create a unique invention that can benefit the society. While other courses do not let students to bend the rules, whereby they can use any material possible to create their product. Creative Multimedia also teaches students how to think creatively. The exercises done in class can also alter moods, whereby if a student is suffering from depression he/she can use the drawing exercises or the designing exercises to express their feelings in their own manner.

Also, Creative multimedia is a challenging subject because its not easy to be learnt. One has to be creative, to be able to think outside of the box and has to be one step ahead in front of others. The brainstorming must be logical thinking but in a creative way that not everybody can achieve. This may lead
to  flexible thinking and a difference  in result. For example, if Isaac Newton was to think the same as Steven Spielberg maybe those
formula wont exist and history will change. Same goes to everything in this world.  And now days, multimedia is not an easy subject. It requires not only flexible thinking but also multi skills. To be a creative person, we must be a multi-talented person.  So it can make us think in every possible ways including the one we thought was impossible in the first place. Nowadays, Creative Multimedia is well known to many people. Everyone race to be the most creative person. And this make it more challenging. We have too many rivals. But its great for the industry. It creates more creative person. But not all have succeeded in this subject. Many have failed and started losing hope.  This is because it also requires physical activities. Such as in doing projects and assignments. We are not only sitting in front of our computer but we also have to go out and do outside activities. Such as shooting in photography and videography. Our skills will help us but if we don’t have the physical that are enough we wont make it in time. Time is also important because day by day multimedia is increasing it’s knowledge. So in order to get along with it, we have to be ready in anyway. We have to push ourselves beyond the boundaries. Creative multimedia is a very tough subject. There are lot of skills we have to learn within short period of time. and many of this ability in creative studies, comes naturally. Some were born to with creative thinking and some with ability to see in different angles.

In conclusion to that, the uniqueness that Creative Multimedia brings to a student is very evident with evidence of the skills and way of thinking the students is left with. While also contributing to the general talents of the individual, it also rounds off the individual into a quality person who produces quality work.

Juxtaposition.

Albert Einstein.
Simply stated, juxtaposition means placing things side-by-side. In art this usually is done with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used. The viewer's attention is drawn to the similarities or differences between the elements.

Derives from French word "juxtaposition", from Latin iuxtā (“near”) or from Latin iungō (“to join”) + French position (“position”) from Latin pōnō (“to place”).

Analogy exercise.

Up soon. (Was absent, gathering information from peers)

Mortar & Pestle.

So Mr. Razi gave us an exercise in class about Mortar & Pestle. Basically there was this mind map displayed at the screen and we had to choose 3 words from it and apply them to the Mortar & Pestle. However.. un-logical it may be applied we had to sketch it out and explain (because.. yeah.. just behold! thy drawings!)

Fashion: The pretty little lady wears the Mortar as a head gear (clearly withstanding the heaviness with a smile) and wearing the pestle as a pair of earrings. So fierce, gurl.

Torture: As you can see the victim is held captive hands and feet strapped onto the table, defenseless. Whilst the crazy dude uses the pestle to aim parts of the victim's limbs and threatens to beat the life out of him with the mortar. Kind of like a hammer and a nail. Hmm, crazy little dude.

Death: Suicide! this method might need help from another willing human being. First, you tie up the pestle with rope and don't forget to tie up your own neck real good too. Second, place the rope over a fan or anything much taller than you. Okay next, you stand on top of the mortar and when you're ready, jump! instant choking death.

I'm going to make a detailed guide out of all of this.. teehee.

Mind Mapping!

According to Wikipedia, mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid to studying and organizing information, solving problems, making decisions, and writing.

Mind maps are, by definition, a graphical method of taking notes. Their visual basis helps one to distinguish words or ideas, often with colors and symbols. They generally take a hierarchical or tree branch format, with ideas branching into their subsections. Mind maps allow for greater creativity when recording ideas and information, as well as allowing the note-taker to associate words with visual representations. Mind maps differ from concept maps in that mind maps focus on only one word or idea, whereas concept maps connect multiple words or ideas. A mind map is often created around a single word or text, placed in the center, to which associated ideas, words and concepts are added.

Mind maps to me, as a student is most effective as note taking as well learning. Mainly because its structure that is filled with images and colors helps me to recall and remember certain things even more vividly. It's fun to look at too. It can also be use to express a person's personality during a presentation with a mind map. Basically it's useful and even more practical the normal lines and paragraphs notes.
